Facts

Fun fact - Highland cows are known for breeding beyond the age of 18 and will often raise more than 15 calves in their lifespan.

The collective name for a group of cows is generally a "Herd". However a group of Highland cows is know as a "Fold"

The most noticeable way to tell the difference between the 2 sexes is their horns. A bull’s horns often grow forwards or even slightly downwards and have a much wider base, whereas a cow’s face upwards and are longer and finer at the tip than a bull’s horns.

The 'dossan' is hair that covers the highlands face. No one is quite sure if they can see where they are going.

The Highland Cow is the oldest registered breed of cattle in the world
